I haven’t posted on here in awhile, Ben is a lot better with his words! I feel like I should share an experience we had the first week we were in the hospital. Lane was to have his first surgery to put his port in and have his first lumbar puncture and bone marrow aspirate, and as a Mom I was kind of freaking out about him going into surgery. At this point, Lane didn’t really want anything to do with me. He just wanted Ben, which made it even harder. The nurse came from the surgery center to take Lane down and as soon as she started talking, the accent sounded very familiar. I asked her where she was from and she said Yugoslavia. The reason her accent sounded so familiar was because my great Grandma was also from Yugoslavia. I could hear my grandma through this nurse’s broken English, and I knew everything was going to be okay. I am so grateful for family, here on the earth as well as on the other side who can comfort me in times of need.

Saying Hi to sisters, before his surgery
