Day 8 Chemo. Lane is having a really hard time going to the hospital. I think he is starting to realize that what they do there doesn’t make him feel good. He gets pretty sad. Today they pumped him full of 3 different chemo meds. Two IV and one shot. He is so homesick, that they have decided to come home till Monday morning. Which we are all grateful for. Hopefully he has enough anti nausea meds in him that he won’t start throwing up on the drive home. The steroids he has been on this week has made him very sensitive to smells. So during his chemo Ben had to keep eating Skittles, because Lane liked the smell of them.

Lane had his 1st of 6 chemo shots he has to have. He seemed to handle it well. Him and dad park hopped today and finally found some swings to play on. He will have another shot Friday, with two other chemo meds. Last time they made him pretty sick for the first few hours. Hopefully we can stay on top of the anti nausea meds.

Today did not go as planned. Lane had an allergic reaction to the chemo. 20% of kids have a reaction on their 2nd dose. It was less than a minute into his meds and he started to throw up and his lips got really swollen. They pushed some extra meds, but luckily didn’t have to do an epi pen. This changes his treatments for the next couple weeks. He will now need an injection Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the next two weeks. So Ben and Lane are going to stay in Salt Lake for the next couple weeks. I will come home during the week to be with the girls and attend all their last of school activities.

On the road again with these two. It’s been a hard day not being able to have all my babies together for the day. I was able to go to church with Ben and my girls while Lane spent some time with Grandma and Grandpa. Mercedes and Abby are such strong girls, it’s not easy to be shuffled around while mom and dad are gone so much.

Lane has another round of chemo early tomorrow morning, then we will be home for a couple days before he has to come back down on Thursday for more chemo.

Day 1 Delayed Intensification. Lane has started to get pretty anxious when we get to the doctors. He isn’t his happy self. He Fell asleep during clinic and chemo again. Woke up from anesthesia really well. He was showing us his donut pillow and how he drooled on it. He was pretty proud of himself!! We were told that this first 4 weeks could result in lots of throwing up, fevers, and possibly needing blood and platelet transfusions. He wanted to go do something after his appointment, so we went to the church history museum. We didn’t last long. He started to get sick, and by the time we got back to the hotel he threw up. So it begins. Hopefully we can get enough anti nauseous meds in him before we head for home in the morning. He has chemo again Monday morning, so we will be back on the road Sunday night.

Can’t stop this 3 year old! Lane made his numbers so we start his next 8 week phase of chemo on Thursday. He just keeps going even though he is pretty wobbly, which results in a face of road rash. We will be on the road to and from SLC the next 15 days, more than we will be home. Hopefully Sarah starts liking her car seat.

Lane’s labs didn’t come back as good as they needed to start his next phase of chemo. So we wait a week and get retested. May is going to be a crazy month with his treatments and end of year festivities for the girls.
